Coding with Raspberry Pi

Come learn about the cutest computer of them all: Raspberry Pi! We’ll learn the basics of how and what Raspberry Pi is, and then we’ll design a game using Scratch or Python on our Pi’s!

Slime Party!

Slime Party! In celebration of Science Literacy Week (September 17th - 23rd,  2018)

Make your own slime, add cool things like glitter, decorate your slime container, and take it home for some slimey fun!

Author Skype Visit with Arin Greenwood

Arin Greenwood, author of the YA science fiction novel Your Robot Dog Will Die will be joining us via Skype to talk about her book, writing career, and to answer your questions. This exciting event will take place in the library’s living room on the main floor.

Home Alone Program

Designed by the Canadian Safety Council, this program helps prepare 9 – 11 year olds for being home alone during short periods of time.  Participants will learn basic first aid and safety procedures, as well as to recognize hazards, and when and how to use 911.  Offered in partnership with St. John Ambulance.

Paint Night - Bob Ross Style

Calling all creative teens! Even if you are a terrible artist (which I’m sure you’re not), painting is still a super fun way to open up your creative energy and let your inner artist out. Come join us on this Thursday evening for a night of painting, socializing with fellow creators, and, of course, snacking. Oh, and Bob Ross. Teen Movie Days - Love, Simon

Up first for our winter break movie screenings is Love, Simon, a charming movie about Simon Spier, a high school boy who has one huge secret - he's gay. When his secret and his email relationship with an anonymous closeted boy at his school is threatened, Simon must do some balancing with his friends and family, and finally come to terms with his identity. 

Love, Simon is based on the YA book Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. Borrow it from the library today!

Teen Movie Days - Ready Player One

Our second winter break movie screening is Ready Player One, a sci-fi adventure movie based on the YA book of the same name by Ernest Cline. The year is 2045. When the creator of OASIS, a virtual reality world, dies, he releases a video challenging the players to his Easter Egg and win ownership of OASIS. Wade Watts, an oprhaned teenager, joins forces with a group of allies in order to beat the game before a big corporation can.
