Freedom to Read Week

Read a Banned Book!

Freedom to Read Week is an annual celebration organized by the Book and Periodical Council. Even in Canada, a free country by world standards, the freedom to read can never be taken for granted. While few of the stories make headlines, attempts to censor books, magazines and the press affect the rights of all Canadians to decide for themselves what they choose to read. We invite you to discover some of these titles in our lobby display.
